Ignition Lock Cylinder

A mechanic should start ignition lock cylinder service by taking out the steering column lower shroud. The correct ignition lock cylinder needs to be ordered using current vehicle keys through authorized Ford/Lincoln Mercury Dealerships. You must take out the retaining screw of the PATS transceiver to remove the passive anti-theft system transceiver from the vehicle. The process to extract the ignition lock cylinder begins with setting the key to position I (ACC) then using a thin bladed screwdriver to push down the retainer before removing the ignition lock cylinder. The setup process requires executing the reverse steps from removal.

Remove the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver by taking out the retaining screw and then removing the transceiver itself.
