A proper procedure for servicing or repairing the Four Wheel Antilock Brake System accepts the negative battery cable disconnect first to safeguard electronic modules from static damage. Proceed by disconnecting the electrical connector which belongs to the anti-lock brake control module. Exercise care when working with brake fluid because it contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols which can irritate the eyes; immediate eye flushing with running water for 15 minutes followed by medical assistance should be sought if irritation continues. Swallowing the substance requires drinking water followed by prompting vomiting that leads to medical facility visit immediately. Any spillage of brake fluid needs immediate water washing since it damages both painted surfaces and plastic materials. Apply only the inlet hydraulic brake tubes which Ford specifically authorizes because these tubes are made exclusively for this use. Each open hydraulic brake tube port needs plugging before its removal to stop brake fluid from spilling out. Remove the bolts first and then extract the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) before installing it while following the reverse order of removal and executing brake system bleeding.
