Service of the Engine Control Module requires first positioning the windshield wiper arms at the windshield's top before disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by cutting free the RH cowl panel grille with its three retaining clips then pull off the clip on the RH cowl extension panel along with its three screws. The EVAP canister purge valve return tube needs disconnecting from the intake manifold before setting it to the side. The powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connection needs removal before taking out the gasket. The PCM can be released by moving the two retaining bolts. Installation requires tightening the bolts to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Follow the removal steps in reverse order when reinstalling the components while torquing them to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

The first step to service and repair the Engine Control Module requires disconnection of the battery ground cable. Start by detaching both the wiper mounting arm along with its pivot shaft assembly. Service and repair of the 3.0L 2V engine requires the removal of the IMRC valve along with its retainer screws following the disconnect of the intake manifold runner control valve electrical connector. All vehicles need to follow the process of disconnecting the electrical connector from the powertrain control module (PCM) while removing its gasket. You need to disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve on 3.0L 2V engine vehicles followed by removing the inboard fastener of the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid then loosen the outboard retaining screw to rotate the solenoid for PCM clearance. You must take out all retaining bolts which secure the PCM. Installation of the new part concludes by performing the reverse order of the removal tasks.
