The repair and servicing process for parking brake shoes starts by taking off the rear brake disc. Begin by removing the parking brake shoe upper return spring and proceed to detach the two parking brake shoe retaining pins and the two retaining springs. The service begins by taking away the parking brake shoe lower return spring followed by the parking brake shoe adjuster before extracting the parking brake shoes. Installation must begin by reversing the removal steps while applying specified lubricant to the rear parking brake shoe contact areas before putting in the shoes. Before finishing the procedure apply anti-seize lubricant to adjust screw threads and adjust parking brake shoes then perform a normal operation check on the parking brake.

The installation of fresh rear brake shoes and linings requires drum resurfacing for glazing elimination and equal friction side-to-side coverage and correction of out-of-round and bell conditions. Brake drum removal should be the first step before proceeding to remove two brake shoe retaining springs along with two pins. The service begins with removing the upper return spring then the self-adjuster and spring assembly before the lower return spring must also come out. The following order consists of removing the trailing brake shoe and parking brake actuator until completion of the leading brake shoe. Before application of silicone grease on the backing plate contact points both parts must receive cleaning treatment and drying process. These adjustments enable smooth installation of the brake drum by putting the self-adjuster into its completely retracted state. Finally, perform the reverse actions of the removal procedure while readjusting the rear brake shoes.
