Safety glasses must be worn while servicing front seat cushions to protect against possible air bag deployment injury similarly avoid probing the air bag module connectors. The supplemental restraint system must be depowered first since the air bag warning lamp turns on when the RCM fuse is pulled while the ignition is switched ON but this is normal without indicating a fault. A completely operational SRS should exist fault-free before handing the vehicle back to customers. The repair procedure involves part replacement although customers should return the original part when the issue remains and conduct another diagnostic test. The first operation requires front seat and backrest removal while maintaining proper alignment of the pivot bolt cover before reinstalling parts. Disconnect the seat control switch electrical connector and remove the side shield screw as well as pin-type retainer to detach the side shield. When reinstalling the seat you must first disconnect the safety belt buckle electrical connector and remove the bolt and buckle before tightening them to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). First detach two recliner bolts along with two recliner spacers and one recliner assembly before installation with 52 Nm (38 lb-ft). The seat wire harness needs disconnecting from the seat track briefly before removing four bolts securing the track to the cushion and uninstalling the track while tightening the bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Remove the cushion trim cover by first detaching J-strips from its edge before disconnecting hook and loop fasteners while being cautious of hook and loop strip separation from the cushion foam pad. To service heated seats professionals should first disconnect the cushion heater element electrical connector before removing the cushion foam pad from the cushion frame. The necessary removal of the cushion heater element from the foam pad might also require disconnecting the heated seat module. The assembly process requires following the reverse order used for disassembly and reinstalling the front seat before activating the SRS system.
