Service and repair of power seat switches requires safety glasses for working on vehicles equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) to protect against potential dangerous deployment incidents. Start any front or side SRS component service by disconnecting the battery ground cable then verifying the back up power supply depletion after waiting one minute before disconnecting auxiliary batteries and power supplies. Executables will handle the SRS deactivation procedure properly. Start by removing the affected seat through these steps: remove its screw then unfasten the seat latch handle and detach the seat control and climate control switch electrical connectors at the seat cushion frame front underside. Remove all screws then the pin-type retainer and side shield from the seat cushion frame along with the power lumbar switch disconnection and unharnessing of wires through the frame. Finish the installation by unscrewing the seat control switch which remains on the side shield. The SRS must be reactivated during installation followed by a check for proper operation of the active restraint system once all diagnostic tools are removed from the vehicle because these tools are for service purposes only and must not be left inside during driving to protect safety standards.

One should start power seat switch service and repair by disconnecting the electrical connector that links to the power seat switch. First recline the seat backrest to access the recliner handle before removing the handle from the seat. Remove the clip from the side shield's rear section by unfastening it from the metal bracket on the track while you partially bend the shield back so you can reach the recliner handle clip. First separate the recliner handle clip from its place and after that remove the recliner handle piece. You should first eliminate the lumbar knob from the seat followed by the power seat knob. The first step requires removing the side shield control panel before unscrewing the two components which secure the seat control switch. The finishing of the procedure requires repeating the actions reversed in the deinstallation stage.

Wear safety glasses before servicing the power seat switch because this prevents injuries while working on vehicles equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) and handling the air bag module. Point the tear seam of the air bag module away from your body while holding it by the side and never rest it on the tear seam to lower the chance of injury. Handwashing with soap and water will eliminate any irritating sodium hydroxide residue that settles on your skin post-deployment. The connectors on the air bag module should not be touched in order to stop accidental deployments. A proper sensor orientation verification for SRS function should be completed before inspecting sensor mounting brackets and wiring pigtails after a collision for any form of deformation as damaged components need replacement regardless of air bag activation. Proceed with depleting the back up power supply by disconnecting the battery ground cable then waiting at least one minute before also disconnecting any auxiliary batteries and power supplies when present. Before you can access the seat you need to extract it from the vehicle followed by unfastening the recliner handle then reducing the seat trim cover screw to remove the trim cover and extract the seat control switch electrical connector before loosening screws that maintain the seat control switch. Start with reversing the steps for removal followed by testing the restraint system before performing proof tests on the air bag system.

Ensure the SRS is depowered before beginning any work.

Reconnect the electrical connector for the 6-way power seat switch, reinstall the affected seat, and repower the SRS.

Detach and position aside the driver seat cushion side shield cover.

Position the driver seat forward to clear the magnetic bar and bracket, then depower the system and remove the driver seat.

Begin by partially removing the RH quarter trim panel to gain access.

Pull it out.

Disconnect the seat control switch electrical connector, noting the wire harness routing for reinstallation.

Wash your hands with soap and water to remove any sodium hydroxide residue.

Release the four locking tabs on the affected switch and remove it.

Deactivate the air bag system before proceeding.

The side air bag sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.

Disconnect the memory SET switch electrical connector if applicable.
