Service and repair procedures for the brake pedal assembly start with positioning adjustable pedals to their maximum forward extent. The repair process starts with bolt removal from the steering column opening cover before taking off the cover and tightening those bolts to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs) when reattaching them. Afteruntaking two bolts off from the steering column opening reinforcement you should remove the reinforcement piece which requires 8 Nm (71 inch lbs) torque when reinstalling. Remove the left-hand side demister duct followed by disconnection of the upper bolt of the steering intermediate shaft which should be set aside for reinstallation while torquing the bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs). First remove the redundant self-locking clip cover and the self-locking clip before placing the brake pedal position (BPP) switch nearby the booster rod with bushing set aside from the brake pedal. The procedure requires users to disconnect the adjustable pedal motor electrical connector which sits atop the bracket and to unfasten the accelerator cable both from the pedal arm and the plastic plunger. The technician first tightens each brake booster nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs) before removing them followed by the removal of both upper brake pedal bracket bolts to be tightened to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs) upon reinstallation. The last step includes removing the brake pedal and bracket assembly before you revert the installation procedure.

Before servicing or repairing the brake pedal assembly start by moving adjustable pedals to the maximum forward extent. The steering column opening cover requires tightening to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.) on its three bolts before removing the cover itself. The following installation step requires removal of two steering column opening reinforcement bolts followed by its removal while tightening to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.). The first step is to disconnect the left-hand side demister duct after which technicians need to remove and securely set aside the steering intermediate shaft by tightening its upper bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Separate the extra self-locking clips from both the cover and the clip itself. Remove the brake pedal position (BPP) switch together with booster rod along with bushing from the brake pedal. Lessen pressure on the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal arm and the plastic plunger when steering vehicles with adjustable pedals. The adjustable pedal motor electrical connector must be disconnected at the top of the bracket when the vehicle has this feature enabled. First remove four brake booster nuts and tighten them to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) reinstall them before unfastening the two upper brake pedal bracket bolts that need tightening to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) as well. The brake pedal assembly along with bracket must be removed before you can finish the installation by doing the opposite of removal steps.

Service and repair of the brake pedal assembly must occur when adjustable pedals are placed in their most forward setting. Start the work by taking out the steering column reinforcement from the instrument panel. Follow the provided sequence to remove required components while implementing only the mentioned procedures for each part. Process the redundant self-locking pin cover by removing its upper bolt from the steering intermediate shaft then moving the shaft to a side position. When you work on brake booster nuts position the brake booster forward so brake booster studs can pass through the brake pedal assembly. Last in the process the drive cable assembly must be released from its fittings on both the motor and the transmissions. The reverse process should be followed to put the components back in place.

Disconnect the adjustable pedal motor electrical connector at the top of the bracket if applicable.
