Service of the secondary air pump begins with hoisting the vehicle while keeping it in NEUTRAL mode before disconnecting the battery ground cable. First remove underbody cover screws when needed then disconnect the electrical connector from the secondary air pump. The service involves freeing up the 3 wire harness retainers when secondary air pump hoses are present. Start by detaching the air pump hose from its air inlet duct by first releasing the clamp then removing the pipe from the secondary air valve. A crimp style clamp prevents hoses from leaving the secondary air pump thus it becomes necessary to extract the entire assembly by removing those 3 bolts. You should implement new bolt torque to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) when you install the assembly through the reversed disassembly sequence.

A correct servicing procedure for the secondary air pump starts with the vehicle having its transmission set to NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The underbody cover requires removal of its seven screws if present. Remove the electrical connector of the AIR pump before unclipping the wire harness retainers on both hose ends of the AIR pump. The air pump hose needs to be disconnected at its points from the air cleaner outlet pipe and the AIR valve. Disassemble the AIR pump with hoses by removing its three bolts yet tighten these bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) torque values when reinstalling. The installation requires executing the removal steps in reverse order.

Start the service of the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump by placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL position and hoisting the system. Regular service of the Secondary Air Injection requires the removal of 7 underbody cover screws if they exist. Separate the AIR pump electrical connector then detach the wire harness retainer clips from the AIR pump hose. The removal process requires disconnecting both the AIR pump hose from the air cleaner outlet pipe as well as from the AIR valve. The service requires removal of three bolts before extracting the AIR pump together with its hoses. Use 30 Nm torque (22 lb-ft) when securing the bolts during new assembly installation before reversing the removal procedures for final installation.
