Vapor Canister

The evaporative emission system holds fuel vapor together with condensed fuel vapor so the vehicle requires a disconnected battery ground cable to stop electrical sparks occurring within fuel vapor or liquid conditions. All fuel components require avoidance of flames and smoking at all times because these components contain highly flammable liquids. Maintenance of the evaporative emission canister requires replacement of the entire assembly except for individual servicing of the canister vent solenoid. Set the vehicle to NEUTRAL position on a hoist system. Start with disconnecting the battery ground wire and then disconnect the electrical connector of the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister assembly. Move on to disconnect both the dust box separator tube along with the EVAP canister tube quick-connect fitting. To access the EVAP canister assembly you need to remove the four retainers and extract the assembly from its place. After reverting the uninstallation process install the component then perform the correct diagnostic leak tests before initiating the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister assembly, followed by the emission tube at the dust separator and the fuel vapor control tube assembly valve quick connect coupling.

Remove the two bolts and two nuts that retain the EVAP canister, ensuring to tighten them to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) upon installation.
