The service and repair process for brake rotor/disc starts with removing the caliper anchor plate. Make a reference point on the brake disc as well as a mark on the wheel stud in order to maintain the smallest rotational imbalance during reinstallation. Perform TIR measurement after installation when your need to use force when removing the brake disc. Rust penetrants should be applied onto both wheel hub and brake disc mating surfaces before beginning any removal process. Before installation removing rust and foreign contaminants from both brake disc and wheel hub requires brake parts cleaner. Use anti-seize lubricant on the hub flange before positioning the brake disc by matching its marks with the wheel hub. Reinstall the caliper anchor plate after checking the Total Indicated Runout (TIR).

A technician must start brake rotor/disc servicing and repair work with removal of the caliper anchor plate. Leave marks on both the brake disc and wheel bolt to preserve the minimum brake disc runout when performing reassembly. A measurement of TIR should be performed following installation if there was a need to use excessive force when removing the brake disc. Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor F2AZ-19A501-A or an equivalent product to Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A should be applied to brake disc and wheel hub mating surfaces when the brake disc proves stubborn to removal. Use Brake Parts Cleaner F6AZ-2C410-AB or an equivalent cleaner to eliminate any rust as well as remove foreign materials from the brake disc and wheel hub. OBTAIN High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant F6AZ-9L494-AA which fulfills Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A alongside its equivalent products. The marks present on both the hub and brake disc should be aligned together before installing the brake disc onto the wheel hub while reinstalling the caliper anchor plate. Verify the total indicated runout (TIR) as the final step of the process.
