Seat belt buckle assemblies together with retractors and buckles as well as front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar) and child seat tether brackets and their installing hardware must be inspected following a collision. Polymer technology in the automotive industry leads to requirements for new seat belt assemblies together with an obligation for qualified technicians to evaluate existing assemblies before installing new ones. The repair process requires new assembly replacement in cases where inspected belt assemblies prove their damage or malfunction after a collision. The inspection of Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR) for all outboard seating positions must be performed by a qualified technician to guarantee seat belt operation especially for the driver seat which lacks ALR capability.
