A service repair team must deplete the back up power supply of the Air Bag Control Module in order to prevent accidental deployment which could cause safety risks. Users need to slide the RCM electrical locking clip away and then disconnect the electrical connector after disconnecting the two bolts on the RCM bracket. A correct installation of the RCM with bracket requires following the inverse order of removal while maintaining the critical torque setting of RCM bracket retaining bolts for proper system functionality. Before road use it is mandatory to remove the restraint system diagnostic tool because it serves only for service needs and its retention could lead to injuries and vehicle safety standard violations.
