    The first step to service the front impact severity sensor requires power deactivation of the supplemental restraint system followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the sensor. A vehicle in a crash which deforms RCM or sensor attachment areas requires reconstruction of these areas prior to sensor and RCM installation as the restored units must replace damaged components because this prevents fatal injuries. The specified torque values must be used when tightening RCM and impact sensor fasteners to prevent wrong operation of the restraint system. Remove all foreign material from the radiator support mating surface and the front impact severity sensor before noting the correct location of the locator tab. Proceed to install the new sensor by following all steps backward to finish by torquing it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The SRS needs its power supply to be restored while checking for system faults until the vehicle reaches customer hands.
