    Q:
How to service and repair the 9.75 Inch Ring Gear axle shaft on Ford E-150 Econoline? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must lift the vehicle before supporting it and removing its wheel assemblies to service or repair Ford 9.75 Inch Ring Gear axle shafts. Begin by extracting the differential housing cover and completely removing its lubricating fluid. Discard the lock bolt and pull out the differential pinion shaft while also discarding the rear brake drums from service. Avoid damaging rubber O-rings in the U-washer grooves when you remove U-washers through axle shaft inward extension. Remove the two axle shafts while maintaining the safety of the wheel bearing oil seal. Start the fitting process by applying XG-1-C Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or an equivalent Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to the wheel bearing oil seal lip before inserting both axle shafts correctly while keeping the U-washer grooves free of rubber O-ring damage. Install the U-washers onto the button ends of the axle shafts then draw the shafts outside. Usage of Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or an equivalent product under Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A5 is necessary to coat threads when new pinion shaft lock bolts cannot be obtained. The differential pinion shaft must be placed properly before securement using a fresh lock bolt. Reinstall the brake drums then the differential housing cover before filling the rear axle housing with 2.4 liters (5.5 pints) of SAE 75W-140 High Performance Rear Axle Lubricant F1TZ-19580-B which meets Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A or an equivalent product. When finished it is necessary to return the tire and wheel assembly back to its place while lowering the vehicle.
