The service and repair of front suspension coil springs on F-250 and F-350 requires front shock absorber and wheel and tire assembly removal. The front axle assembly requires support using a suitable jack while a technician removing the upper spring retainer can drop the front axle to free the spring from its upper spring seat. A spring extension tool should be used to remove the lower spring retainer from the top of the spring before removing the front spring. Install the suspension components using new fasteners while doing the opposite of removal steps to replace all suspension fasteners with identical or equivalent parts to prevent service problems from using inferior or substitute designs. Proper retention of essential components depends on following the specified torque values during all reassembly operations.

Use new fasteners and reverse the removal steps.
