    Service and repairs on the steering knuckle and wheel spindle of F-250 and F-350 models do not require brake disc and wheel hub assembly removal while ball joints are being serviced, yet these assemblies must be taken off for new wheel spindle installation. The wheel speed sensor electrical connection must be disconnected while the sensor harness needs to be taken away from the brake hose. The ball joint service requires removal of the cotter pin, nut retainer along with the tie-rod end nut before installation while discarding the cotter pin and tightening the nut to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft). The Pitman Arm Puller should be used to separate the tie-rod end from its installation. Tighten the new nut to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) while installing it but dispose of the upper ball joint nut and bolt. The camber adjustment sleeve must have at least 2 mm (0.079 in) gap from the ball joint seal before taking out the sleeve. Use a pickle fork only on the lower ball joint nut to prevent damaging the ball joint seal and socket and follow instead by discarding the cotter pin then loosening the lower ball joint nut. Strike the lower front axle end until the lower ball joint becomes loose. Then you must secure the ball joint nut by adding a new cotter pin if needed. Remove the lower ball joint nut and the front wheel spindle followed by the disposal of the nut while tightening the new nut with a torque of 133 Nm (98 lb-ft). Reposition the components before rechecking the front end alignment while making appropriate modifications.
