You must begin repair and servicing of transmission fluid cooler tubes by first disconnecting them from both the transaxle and the transmission fluid cooler. Mineral spirits should be used for cleaning purposes while making sure the cooler tubes receive cleaning automatic transmission fluid followed by drying with shop air. Only the specified automatic transmission fluids including MERCON and its versions MERCON V and MERCON SP as well as Motorcraft Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid and Motorcraft Continuously Variable Chain Type Transmission Fluid should be used because using different fluids can cause transmission harm. Download two hoses from rubber material which will serve as connectors between the transmission fluid cooler tubes. The cleaner needs three rubber hoses to connect with the transaxle ends on the steel transaxle cooler tube by using the cleaner tank pressure tube to initiate the steel transaxle cooler return tube and using a tank return hose with its outlet placed in the fluid tank reservoir and a rubber hose stretched between both ends of transmission fluid cooler tubes. Turn on the fluid pump while letting fluid flow through for no less than five minutes while switching it on and off to wipe away impurities. Eject the fluid pressure hose from the transaxle cooler return tube before shutting off the pump. Compressed air will eliminate any remaining fluid from coolers and tubes before you detach the rubber return hose from the remaining steel cooler tube. When the cleaner operations are complete on cooler tubes you should install a replacement transmission fluid cooler.

Three additional rubber hoses should be attached for cleaner connectivity to steel transaxle cooler tubes by using the cleaner tank pressure tube to connect with the steel transaxle cooler return tube and using a tank return hose to connect with the steel transmission cooler pressure tube which has its outlet in the fluid tank reservoir as well as connecting a rubber hose to the transmission fluid cooler tubes. Turn on and activate the fluid pump for five minutes or longer while switching it off and on periodically to move away contaminants. Turn off the fluid pump and remove the pressure hose of the fluid reservoir from the transaxle cooler return tube. Previous to rubber return hose removal from the steel cooler tube use compressed air flow to evacuate fluid from all cooler units and tubes. The installation of fresh transmission fluid cooler only becomes possible after thorough tube cleaning.
