    Q:
How to service the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet A/C hoses on Ford Five Hundred? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for servicing auxiliary evaporator lines involves cutting the underbody auxiliary line sections while maintaining correct identification of the lines before performing the cut. Two-piece kits contain separate pieces to serve as auxiliary evaporator inlet and outlet lines. The refrigerant recovery process should begin before moving onto muffler removal. Remove both the auxiliary driveshaft in addition to the rear driveshaft when servicing AWD vehicles. Rear the exhaust heat shield and break the auxiliary inlet line fitting nut before getting rid of the O-ring seal while you install the new fitting with 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque. Install this process for both the auxiliary evaporator lines at their corresponding outlet locations. First detach the LH rear wheel together with quarter panel moulding before unbolting and removing both the outer and inner LH rear quarter panel moulding brackets. First detach the LH rear brake caliper by unbolt its components, torque the bolts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) before reinstalling and afterwards take out the parking brake cable bolts which require 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque for installation. In AWD vehicles the installer should remove the rear subframe bracket bolts followed by the lower control arm bolt applying torque settings of 63 Nm (46 lb-ft) for the bolting and 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) respectively. When reassembling the LH lower shock bolt use 142 Nm of torque (105 lb-ft) before tightening the bolt. After securing the rear subframe on a lifting table install new LH rear subframe bolts before lowering the subframe then tighten these bolts to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft). During reinstallation support the fuel tank then remove and tighten the LH rear fuel tank strap bolt at 35 Nm (26 lb-ft). Remove the nuts from the rear auxiliary inlet and outlet line fittings before discarding their O-ring seals and tightening new fittings to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when reattaching them. Fix the middle rear and front auxiliary line brackets by following installation torque settings of 5 Nm (44 lb-in). It is essential to mark the line that needs cutting to prevent coolant leaks or line damage. Recent the substitution lines to match their original position over existing lines then use exactly the same cutting point on auxiliary evaporator lines as the middle fitting of new lines. The front and rear auxiliary line brackets alongside their connecting line sections need to be removed. The installation ends by reinstalling the O-ring seals while following the reverse order of removal steps and applying PAG oil correctly and conducting an evacuation and leak test of the system.
