Start the procedure by disconnecting the ground cable linked to the battery. A fuel tank with a content volume greater than half should have its level reduced to at most half. The service of the fuel tank filler pipe requires first removing the evaporative emission canister and the two upper retaining screws which need to be tightened to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) before reinstalling. The installation of the fuel tank filler pipe requires tightening the lower retaining bolt to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). The technician needs to first remove the right-hand rear inner fender splash shield before disconnecting the vapor tube quick connect coupling from the fuel tank filler pipe. First detach the fuel tank filler hose from the fuel tank while releasing the clamp and then take out the fuel tank filler pipe from the vehicle. The completion of service requires you to perform the reverse steps of removal.

First disconnect the quick connect coupling between the right-hand rear inner fender splash shield and the fuel tank filler pipe vapor tube and its counterpart on the fuel vapor control tube assembly valve. The technician should release the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler hose from the fuel tank before taking out the fuel tank filler pipe from the vehicle. An inverse sequence of the removal steps should be followed for reinstalling back the components.
