Before servicing the heater control valve on a 4.0L engine with an oil cooler and without auxiliary climate control beginners should place the vehicle on a hoist while keeping it in the NEUTRAL gear. Start by draining engine coolant followed by heater control valve vacuum hose removal and unclamping the two heater hose inputs and outputs. Afterward remove the bolt securing the heater control valve followed by extracting the valve component from the system. Application of plain water as a lubricant on coolant hoses becomes necessary before reinstallation by following a reversed order of previous removal. The engine cooling system requires filling before the completion of the process.
