- Q: How to service and repair the exhaust pipe on 2000 Mercury Cougar?A: In order to fix the exhaust pipe, lift the car and loosen the flexible pipe by unscrewing six nuts. Test and fit defective hanger insulators and fit new gaskets. Apply Myrpol Lubricant D7AZ-19553-AA or any other similar lubricant on the insulator and fasten the installation with the six nuts.
