The first step requires users to index the driveshaft at the pinion flange of the rear axle before removing the four bolts which disconnects and removes the rear driveshaft section. Using proper support for the coupling shaft and disconnect the two central bearing bracket holding bolts while maintaining locked parking brake status. E-450 models need to separate the parking brake assembly coupling shaft bolts using the removal of four U-joint retainer bolts. Preparation of a new output flange for the parking brake assembly requires you to disconnect the coupling shaft from its assembly location. To install the driveshaft position it based on the index marks then install U-joint caps followed by bolts before unlocking the parking brake. Begin by supporting the coupling shaft then place the center bearing along with its bracket before running bolts through the center bearing bracket.
