How to service and repair the parking brake cable and conduit for all on 2000 Ford F-150?

All vehicles require the parking brake control to be completely released and the system tension to be reduced by front parking brake cable and conduit pullout and suitable retainer installation. First support the vehicle with proper equipment while you pull forward on the right-hand (RH) parking brake rear cable and conduit until it unclips from the front parking brake cable and conduit. Rear drum brake vehicles need the removal of the parking brake cable equalizer spring. The procedure for RH parking brake rear cable and conduit starts by compressing the retainer and removing it from the parking brake cable equalizer before unhooking the left-hand (LH) cable end from the equalizer bracket with compressed retainer to finish detaching the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit. To remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit disconnect it from the axle housing through unclipping it from the clip followed by removing the cable support bracket bolt. Freightliners with rear drum brakes require the removal of the brake drum followed by disconnecting the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever and taking out the parking brake rear cable and conduit through retainer compression. At the back of F-150 Heavy Duty vehicles with disc brakes you must press down the retainer to pull out both rear parking brake cable and conduit. Installation requires a reverse order of the uninstallation steps.
