You should start the repair process of the rear parking brake cable and conduit by pulling the bottom of the boot to separate it from the plastic retainer. The control handle requires upward extraction in case the boot does not come loose. The control boot needs careful handling during removal because its small plastic retaining tab must be carefully avoided from damaging the control handle notch. A screwdriver with small size should be used for lifting up the retainer tab while sliding the boot into higher position. A screwdriver should be used to lower the tension arm until it reaches its full depression position. Subsequently lock it down with a pin or screwdriver. Detach the cable anchor pin and lift the vehicle along with its support. The rear parking brake cables need to be detached from the equalizer but the spring tabs on each cable end should stay attached to the vehicle body. First remove the rear cable along with conduit from their positions on the body before removing the holder and brake drum. You should disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever and press the spring tabs while removing the parking brake cable with conduit.
