2000 Lincoln Continental A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install the A/C Condenser on 2000 Lincoln Continental?
A: To start the HVAC condenser removal you must remove both the radiator upper sight shield and conduct the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure. You must reposition the windshield washer fluid reservoir filler after unwiring its screws followed by removing the RH fender support brace through its screw removal. The first task includes separating the forward condenser to evaporator tube spring lock coupling from the aft condenser to evaporator tube. Additionally, unfasten the two nuts which secure the A/C condenser core to the radiator. The radiator should be suspended from its upper support brackets while a hoist elevates the vehicle. The radiator air deflector needs to be removed by extracting both pin-type retainers and screws. The process starts with unfastening four pin-type retainers from the bumper cover followed by unscrewing the power steering/transmission fluid cooler and unbolted bolts from the left-hand side of the lower radiator support. First disconnect the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line spring lock coupling from the A/C manifold and tube before lifting away the A/C condenser core from its support brackets on the radiator to proceed with removal. The technicians must separate and extract the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line and the forward condenser to evaporator tube. Install the new A/C condenser core with PAG compressor oil as per the correct amount of YN-12c and F7AZ-19589-DA and WSH-M1C231-B or an equivalent that meets Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Use the same PAG compressor oil to lubricate the O-ring seal before installing the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line and the forward condenser to evaporator tube to the A/C condenser core. The A/C condenser core must be installed onto the radiator followed by coupling the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line spring lock coupling onto the A/C manifold and tube. Install two bolts that fix RH and LH lower radiator supports and then secure the power steering/transaxle oil cooler. After putting back the bumper cover pin-type retainers and radiator air deflector you should lower the vehicle but take out the temporary radiator supports. The process requires securing the A/C condenser core to the radiator with two nuts and connecting the forward condenser to evaporator tube spring lock coupling to the aft condenser to evaporator tube. Then reinstall the RH fender support brace followed by the windshield washer fluid reservoir filler. Evacuation and charging of the refrigeration system becomes necessary for the safe reinstallation of the radiator upper sight shield.
