2000 Lincoln LS Antenna Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the antenna cable on 2000 Lincoln LS?
A: Service and repair operations on the antenna cable begin after grounding the battery cables. The antenna lead-in cable cannot be detached from the rear lamp wiring harness yet you must install a new cable above the existing one and secure it with ties for replacement purposes. Service and repair of the antenna cable starts with instrument panel and LH A-pillar lower trim and front and rear LH scuff plate removal and protective harness cover removal. The rear seat back release handles in the luggage compartment allow users to lower the LH and RH rear seat backrests before proceeding with removal. Release the upper retaining latches from each side of the rear seat side bolsters to position them away from the path. The upper pass-through trim panel needs removal following the release of five pin-type retainers and opening the latch covers. To access the high mounted stoplamp cover you should start by removing the LH and RH rear door opening sealing strips and rear quarter panel trim panels which can be separated by pulling them gently with sufficient force to release their clips. The package tray removal starts with disconnecting the pin-type retainers. The installer should disconnect the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna isolator module as the last step. Initiate antenna installation by following the backwards order of removal but slice both ends of the old cable lead-in wire to eliminate metal components which produce noise after the new cable installation.
