2000 Lincoln LS Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2000 Lincoln LS?
A: The service procedures for the vacuum brake booster start with unbolting wiper arms and removing them and washer hose followed by taking out pushpins from the cowl cover and its rubber trim. First detach the cowl vacuum bracket by removing its nut and putting the bracket to the side and then unscrewing the cowl brace center and end bolts to free the bracket. Disconnect the coolant reservoir return hose first and proceed to remove the brake master cylinder before uninstalling both the power brake booster check valve and possibly disconnecting the electrical connector. Unfasten the bolts that secure the coolant reservoir as well as detach the hose before extracting the coolant reservoir. Release the brake pedal pin clip afterward remove the brake pedal pin and finally take out the power brake booster with its nuts. Place the power brake booster at installation position before securing it using booster nuts. After installing the brake pedal pin assembly the technician should attach the radiator coolant recovery reservoir bolts and reconnect the coolant reservoir hose. The power brake booster electrical connector can be reconnected according to procedures while installing the power brake booster check valve and the coolant reservoir return hose. As the final assembly step install the brake master cylinder followed by securing the cowl brace end and center bolts together with attaching the vacuum hose bracket nut. Verify the washer hose connection while you put back the cowl cover with rubber trim and pushpins then fasten the wiper arm nuts. To finish up the process, brake system bleeding should be performed.
