- Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core in the main climate control system on 2000 Lincoln Navigator?A: Forcing a suction accumulator change is unnecessary when servicing the main climate control system unless clear signs of failed A/C compressor contamination or damaged accumulator existence emerges. The first step before removing the component is to use a leak test to determine potential evaporator core leaks. The first step involves doing the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure followed by draining the radiator system. The next step involves removal of both the instrument panel along with the junction block splash shield. Before removing the bracket of the junction block start by disconnecting cable ends then unscrew the bracket to free its connector. Detach the couplings on the heater core hoses together with the spring locks from the A/C evaporator core. Unscrew the RH A/C plenum demister adapter screw to proceed with removing the heater core outlet bracket by unscrewing it as the next step. The A/C evaporator core can be extracted from the plenum assembly after removing 14 screws and then detaching the plenum assembly top. To install the A/C evaporator core perform the reverse procedure of removal while servicing the core with the recommended PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent Ford WSH-M1C231-B specification. The final steps should include the Evacuation and Charging Procedure.
