Lincoln Navigator Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: Is the auxiliary evaporator core available as a separate component on Lincoln Navigator?
A: Expedition EL and Navigator L owners must have the auxiliary evaporator core service as an assembly with the auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing because it functions as a single assembly but individual parts repair is possible for Expedition and Navigator models. A vacuum leak test must be conducted first to check for evaporator core leak suspicions. Start by taking out both the auxiliary heater core as well as evaporator core housing. The components retrieved from the old heater core and evaporator core housing of Expedition EL or Navigator L will need to be moved to a new housing before you can install the auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing assembly. The installation requires discontinuing the Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) fitting through bolt removal before the fitting separation on Expedition or Navigator vehicles. The installation process requires sealing O-ring discarding. Start by disconnecting the evaporator drain tube when removing the 12 screws from the evaporator/heater core access cover and the access cover. Fitting of this piece involves step-by-step reverse of removal procedures and mandatory reinstallation of new O-ring seals.
