2000 Lincoln Navigator Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the lower intake manifold on 2000 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The engine cooling system needs draining as the first step for servicing and repairing the lower intake manifold. The first step requires removal of the upper intake manifold and disconnecting fuel lines and engine water bypass hose and water temperature indicator sender electrical connector. The service starts with disconnecting the upper radiator hose followed by heater water inlet hose together with heated Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) water heated fitting inlet hose. First disconnect the eight fuel injectors after removing the four bolts that maintain the upper generator support bracket. Set aside the vacuum line which is currently attached to the fuel injector pressure regulator. You should first remove all the bolts securing both the lower intake manifold along with the radio ignition interference capacitors. Check gaskets for deterioration then replace them if required while cleaning down the sealing points. Start the installation process by adding the radio ignition interference capacitors first. Begin hand-starting lower intake manifold bolts at position 7-12 followed by positions 1-6. After placing the gaskets, install the intake manifold while securing it with bolts that need to be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) and an additional 90-degree turn according to the specified installation order. After hooking up the water temperature indicator sensor you should move the vacuum harness and link the vacuum line toward the fuel injector pressure regulator. After reattaching the eight fuel injectors you must install the upper generator support bracket by screwing in four bolts before hooking up the heater water inlet hose as well as the upper radiator hose and water heated fitting inlet hose. The last installation steps include attaching engine water bypass return hose together with fuel lines and then installing the upper intake manifold.
