2001 Lincoln Navigator Intake Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the lower intake manifold on 2001 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The first step in servicing and repairing the lower intake manifold requires performing a drain of the engine cooling system. Start by drainage of the engine cooling system before you detach the upper intake manifold and disconnect the fuel lines and engine water bypass hose together with the electrical connector of the water temperature indicator sender. The next step requires removal of the upper radiator hose simultaneously with heater water inlet hose as well as heated positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) water heated fitting inlet hose. The generator support bracket requires four bolt removal before the eight fuel injectors can be detached. The staff removes the vacuum line from the fuel injector pressure regulator before setting it apart. The next step involves removing the bolts from the lower intake manifold then the bolts from the radio ignition interference capacitors. Check all gaskets before replacing bad ones and clean the joints where they will be installed. You can begin the installation by placing radio ignition interference capacitors first. Begin by hand-starting the lower intake manifold bolts starting from positions 7-12 then moving to 1-6. Starting with gasket placement when installing the intake manifold while securing bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.), finish by twisting the bolts another 90 degrees in the specified order. Install the water temperature indicator sensor before positioning the vacuum harness and connecting the vacuum line towards the fuel injector pressure regulator. The procedure requires an installation of fuel injectors, upper generator support bracket with four bolts, and connection of heater water inlet hose together with upper radiator hose and water heated fitting inlet hose. The procedure ends with connecting the engine water bypass return hose together with fuel lines before reinstalling the upper intake manifold.
