2000 Mercury Cougar Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Lower Antenna Cable on 2000 Mercury Cougar?
A: Service or repair of the antenna lower cable begins by taking out the right-hand scuff panel trim followed by detaching the door opening weather strip and removing the instrument panel side trim. Start by removing both the right-hand cowl side trim panel and then disconnecting the antenna cable electrical connector. Begin the antenna cable service work by removing three retaining clips while keeping the glove compartment lowered enough for better access. Submit the removal tools through the audio unit then pull it slowly toward the side before removing the unit from the instrument panel. Work to disconnect first the electrical connectors then the antenna cable from the audio unit. Cutting the cable tie completes the antenna cable removal process. The reverse steps needed for reinstallation should be followed.
