  A: Start repairs on the console with automatic transaxle transmission by removing power first and placing the selector lever in neutral before disconnecting the battery ground cable. After taking the rear screws out of the floor console you should either raise the armrest if present or detach the rear cup holder from consoles that lack an armrest. Winch down the parking brake lever completely and take out the ashtray and cigar lighter panel if installed. Then pull out the stowage tray by pushing on its power socket area. Pull back the selector lever indicator bezel before removing its screw and unlocking the bulb holder. Unplug all electrical connectors from the selector lever including its wiring set and take out the spacer component from this connection. Pull the overdrive switch terminals from their electrical plug then remove the selector lever indicator bezel.
