How to remove the Center Console Base in those with a manual transaxle on Mercury Cougar?

In manual transaxle cars, to take out the floor console, remove the gearshift knob, spring and damping sleeve. Take out the gearshift lever boot, the rear screws and any ashtray or stowage tray. Next, unscrew the screws on the front and lift the lever on the parking brake. Unplug electrical connector when required and reverse when installing.
