How to service and repair the EGR valve on 2000 Mercury Cougar?

In order to service the EGR valve, disconnect hoses and remove the air cleaner outlet tube. Next, remove EGR valve and vacuum hose. Clean the gasket faces, fit a new gasket, install EGR valve, screw it in, reconnect the vacuum hose, fit the EGR tube and fit the idle air control valve.
