How to service and repair the EGR valve on 2001 Mercury Cougar?

When maintaining the EGR valve, one has to remove the air cleaner outlet tube and hoses, and also remove the EGR valve and vacuum hose. Wipe the gasket faces, fit a new gasket, fit the EGR valve, fit clamp, reconnect the vacuum hose, fit the EGR tube and fit the idle air control valve.
