How to Service and Repair the Front Shock Absorber on 2000 Mercury Cougar?

In order to service the front suspension strut, a strut and spring assembly should be removed with caution since the spring is springing. Disassembly must be preceded by a coil spring compressor. Take off the thrust bearing nut, top mount, thrust bearing, spring seat, spring, boot and bump stop. Install back together making sure the springs are correct.
