2000 Mercury Mountaineer A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: The servicing operation for the HVAC accumulator begins by removing the battery ground cable. The Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure should be executed afterwards. Using a back up wrench guard the tubes from damage during the disconnect between the A/C evaporator core fitting and the suction accumulator/drier and A/C cycling switch electrical connector. The suction accumulator/drier separation begins by disconnecting its hose coupling from the A/C manifold then the removal proceeds by unscrewing the mounting bracket bolt for extraction. The new suction accumulator/drier should receive the A/C cycling switch for installation. Installation requires the opposite order of disassembly and professional service of the new suction accumulator/drier to accept PAG compressor oil YN-12-C F7AZ-19589-DA or their equivalent which satisfies Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
