2001 Ford Crown Victoria Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the intake manifold on 2001 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The first step to remove the intake manifold begins with uninstalling the wiper arm, pivot shaft together with the air cleaner outlet tube. Unglue the fuel line and fuel charging wiring electrical connections from all eight ignition coils together with eight fuel injectors as well as the fuel pressure sensor the fuel temperature sensor and engine coolant temperature sensor. The isolation valve wiring lead requires separation from the upper generator support bracket before its disconnection along with the generator battery cable. The inner fender splash shield requires removal of power distribution box access cover together with its nut and wires which allow disconnecting the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors. The service technician must disconnect the fuel charging wiring electrical connector from the A/C pressure transducer, cylinder head temperature sensor jumper, camshaft position sensor, generator, throttle position sensor, radio ignition interference capacitor and EGR vacuum regulator solenoid, differential pressure feedback EGR, and idle air control valve. Remove all bolts from the throttle body and disconnect both the throttle cable and speed control actuator cable before moving them aside with their bracket. Begin by placing the fuel charging wiring out of the work area before disconnecting the fuel lines and cables from all components including differential pressure feedback EGR and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. The main chassis vacuum supply line must be disconnected from both throttle body adapter and crankcase ventilation tubes and the drain from the solenoid valve. Additionally the vacuum line from throttle body adapter and the EGR vacuum regulator then the solenoid valves must also be disconnected. The technician should start by removing the EGR tube from the EGR valve then remove bolts from the isolation valve followed by disconnecting four bolts which secure the fuel injection supply manifold together with fuel injectors. The technician disconnects the heater water hose from the intake manifold before disconnecting the upper radiator hose from the water outlet adapter. They then remove the bolts alongside the eight ignition coils and the bolts with the upper generator support bracket. The next step involves removing bolts from the water outlet adapter and water thermostat before removing the O-ring so the bolts securing the intake manifold along with the intake manifold gaskets can be taken off. Finally, clean the sealing surfaces.
