2002 Ford Crown Victoria Intake Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the intake manifold on 2002 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The process for removing the intake manifold starts with disconnecting the wiper arm and pivot shaft then continuing with the air cleaner outlet tube. Perform a fuel line and fuel charging wiring electrical disconnection at each of the eight ignition coils and eight fuel injectors alongside the three sensors consisting of fuel pressure and fuel temperature sensors and engine coolant temperature sensor. The isolation valve wire leads should be separated from the upper generator mount before battery cable disconnection. You must first remove the power distribution box access cover along with its nut and wiring before unplugging the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors located at the inner fender splash shield. Additionally remove the fuel charging wiring electrical connector from the A/C pressure transducer, cylinder head temperature sensor jumper, camshaft position sensor, generator, throttle position sensor, radio ignition interference capacitor, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid and differential pressure feedback EGR system, idle air control valve. There should also be disconnects of the throttle cable and speed control actuator cable from the throttle body. The technician should remove bolts to place cables along with bracket and fuel charging wiring out of the working area. Remove the connections between both differential pressure feedback EGR system hoses and the vacuum hose from the EGR valve and take apart the main chassis vacuum supply hose at the throttle body adapter and the crankcase ventilation tubing from two different places. The maintenance procedure involves first removing the vacuum hose from the throttle body adapter alongside the vacuum hoses from the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid afterward. The next step is taking off the EGR tube from the EGR valve. The first step is to remove the bolts from the isolation valve then proceed to remove the bolts from both the fuel injection supply manifold and the fuel injectors which work as a single assembly. Drain the intake manifold by disconnecting its heater water hose and unlink the upper radiator hose from the water outlet adapter. Begin by removing the bolts and eight ignition coils followed by removal of the bolts and generator support bracket and finally the bolts which secure the water outlet adapter. The water thermostat and its O-ring must be removed while you remove the bolts securing both the intake manifold and its gaskets. Finally, clean the sealing surfaces.
