How to service the intake manifold on 2001 Ford Escort?

In order to service the intake manifold, empty the cooling system, take out the air cleaner outflow pipe and unhook several hoses and cables. Disassemble the intake manifold, clean the surfaces and replace the gasket. Reconnect parts, fill the cooling system, and turn on the engine and also look at leaks.
