2001 Ford Explorer Sport Blower Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the second row blower motor on 2001 Ford Explorer Sport?
A: Service of the second row blower motor requires you to start by taking off the floor console followed by removing the coin tray and all screws securing the console insert and lid. You must open the rear cup holder to get to the additional screws which you need to remove before disconnecting the retaining clips to take out the console rear finish panel. Follow the screws removal by disconnecting electrical connectors and unwinding the pin-type retainer. Release the air distribution door linkage from the second row climate control assembly arm before carefully removing it without bending the arm. Take out first the screws before tackling the console rear air distribution duct after that you will remove nine screws and the console liner. Disconnect the blower motor resistor and remove its pin-type retainer after you disconnect all required nuts and screws. Push the console reinforcement to expose part of the blower motor with its attached air distribution duct before disconnecting the electrical connector of the blower motor and extracting screws to remove the assembly from the duct. To install the blower motor assembly line it with the console air distribution duct before screw installation and electrical connector connection. Position the stud points of the blower motor along with air distribution duct assembly to locate them onto the console reinforcement and slide them ahead to engage the pin-type retaining mechanism. To install the blower motor resistor you need to connect its electrical connector and install the two screws then install the nuts and finally the console liner with nine screws. Connect the air distribution door linkage to the second row climate control assembly arm after installing console rear air distribution duct and its screws and avoid bending the arm. Secure the electrical connections and activate the pin-type retainer while placing and screwing in the second row climate control assembly. Connect the floor console with the rear finish panel before securing the retaining hardware followed by screw installation. After installing the console lid you should add its screw before installing the console insert along with screws and then the coin tray before reattaching the floor console.
