2001 Ford Ranger Blend Door Actuator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Blend Door Actuator, Specifically the Panel/Floor Door Vacuum Control Motor on 2001 Ford Ranger?
A: Service technicians should start Air Door Actuator/Motor repairs of Panel/Floor Door Vacuum Control Motor by first removing screws and hood release handle from the lower steering column opening finish panel. The panel needs to be released when you remove its two screws then gently pull it forward to disengage the clips. The next step requires uninstalling the bolts from the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement which allows removal of the two bolts from the instrument panel support brace. The vacuum hose should be disconnected first and then use the vacuum control motor to disengage the lever before removing the motor part. Tread with care to prevent bending the lever because it exhibits brittleness that might result in breaking. To install the part start by accomplishing the opposite of what was done for removal.
