How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2001 Lincoln Continental?

A technician should disconnect the battery ground cable then partially drain the coolant in order to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer. Detach wiring from engine controls at the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor then eliminate the sensor from its place. The reverse approach must be used for sensor installation. When working with a reused engine coolant temperature sensor it requires application of Pipe Sealant with Teflon® D8AZ-19554-A, which follows Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2, to the threads for proper fitting.
