The MAF sensor functions as a unified unit because its sensing element resides inside the housing therefore full replacement of the assembly is required to prevent sensor failure. The engine control sensor wiring needs to be disconnected from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor before removing the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet tube. After disconnecting the electrical connector use the following order to remove the engine Air Cleaner (ACL) and engine air cleaner cover as well as the MAF sensor. Taking the MAF sensor out of the inner cover requires the removal of its securing nuts last as a step.
