2002 Ford Crown Victoria A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the A/C condenser core on 2002 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: A leak test should be performed first to check for leaks before removing the A/C condenser core. A new suction accumulator/drier needs installation only when system contamination stems from compressor failure or when the suction accumulator/drier shows damage. The first step requires refrigerant recovery followed by battery removal together with the radiator upper sight shield detachment. The A/C condenser core service begins with using peanut fittings to detach the condenser to evaporator tube and the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line. Proceed by taking out the bolts that maintain the radiator supports and the two additional bolts. To remove the A/C condenser core you should first tilt the radiator backward and then pull the core up. Service and install the new A/C condenser core by reversing the removal process while applying PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C or equivalent that fulfills Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B). After applying oil, lubricate the O-ring seal with the same PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil.
