2002 Ford Crown Victoria A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2002 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: Service of the HVAC accumulator requires refrigerant recovery as the first step. Attach the electric pump to the service egg and install a dry gauge. Then separate the evaporator from compressor suction line at the suction accumulator/drier by following spring lock coupling procedures. The process of suction accumulator/drier separation from the evaporator core requires backing up the wrench because it protects the fitting as well as the tube from damage. The service starts with unfastening the screw which holds the A/C accumulator mounting bracket in place on the A/C evaporator core before removing the suction accumulator/drier. Unlock the insulation cover of the suction accumulator/drier before removing its mounting bracket from the device. Reverse the removal steps for installation while servicing the new suction accumulator/drier with PAG compressor oil YN-12-C F7AZ-19589-DA which satisfies Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. The O-ring seal requires application of the same PAG compressor oil for lubrication. Installation should be approached with a back up wrench because it helps protect the fitting and tube from damage.
