2002 Ford E-250 Econoline A/C Hose Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Auxiliary A/C Hose from Condenser to Evaporator on 2002 Ford E-250 Econoline?
A: The first step for servicing and repairing the auxiliary A/C-heater system condenser to evaporator line involves removing the refrigerant and disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by removing the engine air cleaner together with the air cleaner outlet tube and the moving the compressor discharge line isolator through its screw removal. The procedure for 4.2L engine vehicles requires completion but all other vehicles should disconnect the condenser core refrigerant lines through compressor discharge line and condenser to evaporator tube disconnection with wrenches applied to fittings to protect their integrity. You must disconnect the A/C evaporator core fitting which requires screw removal then wrench usage on both edges of the fitting to finish the process. Lift the vehicle after removing screws and clamps from the four clamps and disconnect the underbody tube spring lock coupling. Disconnect the evaporator to condenser tubes from the unit. A correct amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B should be applied to the new condenser to evaporator tube for service before raising the vehicle to connect the underbody tube spring lock coupling followed by lowering it. You should lubricate the new O-ring seals with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil before installing them to the A/C evaporator core fitting and securing it with the wrench on both sides of the fitting. The installation of condenser core refrigerant lines requires lubrication for new O-ring seals followed by a linkage between condenser and evaporator tubes and a connection of the compressor discharge line which needs wrench use at each fitting point. The installation of the compressor discharge line isolator and screw requires immediate attention because this operation applies specifically to vehicles utilizing engine size 4.2L. Proceed with clamps installation by adding clamps and screws and then install both the engine air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube. Follow the process by reattaching the battery ground cable then evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system.
