2002 Lincoln Continental Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the radiator on 2002 Lincoln Continental?
A: Service of the radiator starts with disconnecting the battery cable then draining the engine cooling fluid. Service of the radiator begins by first removing the engine air cleaner and then disconnecting the upper radiator hose from the water bypass tube as well as the upper radiator supports. The radiator overflow hose together with the upper radiator hose and two clips from the fan shroud need to be detached. The transmission fluid cooler lines need separation from their inlet and outlet fittings before disconnecting the engine control sensor wiring from the auxiliary electric cooling fan motor. You must support the A/C condenser core and bracket before removing the nuts which hold the A/C condenser core to the radiator. Lift the vehicle through hoisting the process and eliminate the radiator air deflector before removing the lower radiator hose. Extract the bumper cover pin-type retainers and completely remove the power steering/transmission fluid cooler while setting it to the side. Secure the fan shroud together with both the radiator and radiator support. Afterward, disconnect the bolts which maintain the left and right radiator supports. The necessary operation includes these sequential steps: Lower and remove the fan shroud along with the radiator and radiator support from the vehicle before taking the upper radiator hose off the radiator and the two bolts securing the fan shroud to the radiator. The process ends by performing the opposite of previous steps for removal.
