2002 Lincoln Town Car Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2002 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The service and repair process for the vacuum brake booster starts with disconnecting both the battery ground cable and fluid level sensor connector. First move the speed control cable to a side position before disconnecting the power brake booster check valve. Begin by taking off the brake master cylinder nuts followed by removing the wiring harness bracket which can be placed to the side. Proceed to carefully extract the brake master cylinder then place it to the side. You need to take out the pushpins that fasten the instrument close-out panel and proceed by removing the panel from the vehicle. You must detach the stoplight switch retaining pin while moving the stoplight switch and booster push rod from the brake pedal pin. The first action is to remove the brake booster retaining nuts and then remove the power brake booster. Install the brake switch by placing its closed hole side away from the brake pedal arm with the open hole facing upward while ensuring that the brake booster input rod must not be incorrect. The installation completion requires following the reverse steps of removal.
